The third Winter Academy 2004 from 3rd to 10th December, 2004 was held in Haldia near Kolkata under the auspices of the IIT Kharagpur. 36 students of IITs and 6 students from University of  Erlangen, Germany participated in the Winter Academy.

Selected students were given a topic not necessarily of their area of interest and were asked to present a lecture on the topic. I chose to talk on "Plastics for environment and Sustainable Development" because the topic was both scientifically and environmentally relevant and put forth bigger challenges.
