While visiting this website you will find various lessons, activities and ideas for teaching weather in your classroom. In our classroom we use project based learning to help students make real life connections with the curriculum. Many of the activities you will find on this website integrate the use of technology. This website showcases Google Documents, Digital stories created with Windows Movie Maker and displayed on Youtube. In order to create these lessons we used the lesson plan builder on Taskstream. Along with integrating technology in our teaching we also reference the Michigan GLCE's and ISTE: Standards for Students. Click here to view our standards. Have fun exploring! Below is an Inspiration map of all the ideas we used throughout our weather unit. This helped guide us to the final project, a student produced newscast. Inspiration is a program that allows students and teachers to organize their ideas through concept maps. This program is a useful tool that allows teachers to easily assess their students' knowledge. This map helped to guide us in organizing our activities and creating our website. If you click on the image, you will see a full-sized Inspiration map! Blogs are a wonderful and easy way to share information with multiple people. In the classroom we created a blog to post information about what is going on in the weather. Blogs are an awesome tool to use when working on a group project and tracking student progress daily! We used a blog to connect with our pen pals in Sydney, Australia for fast and efficient communication. You can view our blog by simply clicking here! Here is a podcast that discusses important elements of project based-learning as well as activities that we will be teaching in the classroom related to weather. Podcasts are another way to deliver audio information through the use of technology. ![]() This page was created by Kayla Turner and Jacquie Kurow You can contact us at kayla.m.turner@gmail.com and jacquiekurow@gmail.com |
