The first Waterloo DMRG Winter School will be held at the University of Waterloo on March 18th, 2011.The Winter School is a one-day event designed to bring together students, postdocs and faculty from Ontario, Canada, and abroad, in a relaxed setting to gain an introductory understanding of the Density Matrix Renormalization Group method in the physical sciences. The first half of the workshop is intended as a pedagogical introduction to the DMRG methodology, accessible to graduate students considering pursuing DMRG in their research. The school will include an introductory DMRG code and tutorial. The second half of the workshop will give a flavor for some of the research being performed by DMRG practitioners in Ontario Universities and around the world. The one-day workshop will be held at the Institute for Quantum Computing on Waterloo's north campus. Since it will be an all-day event, coffee breaks, meals, and parking will be arranged. Who should register? The winter school is open to all faculty, postdocs and students interested in learning about DMRG. There is no registration fee, however participants are required to cover their own travel expenses. Since space is limited, registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration page will be closed after all available space is filled. |
