Call for Papers

The Wildlife Disease Association (WDA) invited submission of abstracts for its annual conference, August 2-7, 2009. The 2009 conference theme is "Wildlife Health from Land to Sea: Impacts of a Changing World" Presentations and/or posters could be on any wildlife health-related topic, but papers relating to the topics listed below were encouraged. In addition to traditional oral presentations there will be opportunity to share in depth information on specific topics during the symposia & special sessions on Friday.

Topics at this meeting will include:

  1. Marine / aquatic health issues
  2. Disease Ecology

  3. Surveys & New Reports

  4. Tools & Techniques

  5. Wildlife – Domestic - Human Animal Interface

  6. Socio-political Challenges of Disease Management

  7. Linking Captive and Free-ranging Wildlife Health

  8. Any host taxa-related wildlife health topic

  9. Any pathogen taxa-related wildlife health topic

The deadline for submissions was 1 May 2009. Notification of the acceptance of your abstract and assignment to a platform or poster presentation session will be made by 15 June 2009.

The Program Committee will try to meet requests for either oral or poster presentation format, but final decisions will depend on the number of contributions and scheduling constraints. Poster contributors should plan to attend a specific scheduled session for poster presentation. Please limit poster size to 4' (122cm) X 4' (122cm) or less. Oral presentations in topical sessions will be strictly limited to 15 minutes, including questions, unless indicated otherwise by the Program Committee Chair. If information cannot be concisely presented in 10 to 12 minutes, then please consider a poster presentation.

Students wishing to be considered for the Terry Amundson Student Presentation Award or student poster competition must submit an abstract to both the Scientific Program Chair through the  Abstract Submission Page and to the Chair of the Student Awards Committee (mkkeel@uga.edu), clearly identifying the abstract as a student submission for consideration of respective awards.
