My research
interest is in improving disaster response. While serving in Afghanistan with
the 12th Aviation Brigade, I had the opportunity to deploy to Pakistan and participate
in the disaster response mission for the October 2005 Kashmir earthquake. This is a home in Balakot that "pancaked" during the earthquake. Many soft-story construction homes suffered the same fate.
