Welcome to the Walnut Creek Elementary Grand Central Station Website
Grand Central Station (GCS) is an intensive academic intervention program which offers a continuum of service options for at-risk learners. Teachers assigned to the lab offer struggling learners the level of support they need across the curriculum to help them become successful, independent learners.
Our GCS campus team members attend a comprehensive 8-day training series (spread across the school year). This professional development gives the GCS lab teachers critical information on specific types of learning difficulties along with research-based intervention strategies. Administrators are also provided with a systemic process which must be in place for the interventions to be effectively and consistently delivered.

Our GCS team here at Walnut Creek utilizes screening tools, prescriptive interventions, proactive instructional strategies, specialized technology, organizational structures, and detailed tracking mechanisms to form a "hub" which improves instruction throughout the school and assists in the success of struggling students.
