was formed in 1975 in Southwest Los Angeles. The name Major Motion was inspired by Marshall “Major Taylor, a pioneer
in American cycling.
Major Taylor was an African American cyclist who won many races including the 1899 one mile World Championship in
Montreal. It was unprecedented for an American to achieve that level of performance. Professional cycling at the
turn of the century was dominated by Europeans, it is in the spirit of Major Taylor’s example of clean living, love
of the sport of cycling and his dedication to excellence us at Major Motion.
We are a group of semi professional and afficionados to the sport of cycling. We are a very diverse group of adults that have come together as a family; we have training sessions to improve our riding styles; we also have the more experienced riders and racers that have extensive knowledge in the sport and always have plenty of good advise for the novice and less experienced riders.
