Return to Home page. Below are answers to questions asked by others: 1. Are you the original owner of this vehicle? No. The 1998 Lumina was purchased in Kansas in 2000 and sent to St Thomas. The A/C doesn't cool, the body and interior are in very good condition, and the car is in good running condition.
The Lumina slowly stopped cooling several years ago and might just need a recharge of Freon. The Lumina has had the alternator replaced, a new battery in April 2009, and several tires replaced that were punctured from driving over sharp rocks.
4. What type of maintenance has been done to the car, being on the Water Island? I have five vehicles on Water Island and do all of my own preventive maintenance. During the high season we have four cars being used daily by short term renters, so it is important for me to stay ahead of problems by keeping the cars well maintained. Cloth Interior – light gray.
I have a Puerto Rico and Arizona license and have purchased both boat and car insurance without problem. I visited the DMV Sub-Base office, across from the Pueblo grocery store in St Thomas and believe that I understand the procedure necessary to register a vehicle that hasn’t previously been registered in the VI. Neither I nor the new owner is required to have a VI driver’s license. I have to obtain a one-day permit to legally drive the car to the DMV inspection office. I have to obtain insurance coverage, have the car inspected, and then it has to be registered in my name since I paid the road and U.S. Custom taxes and the original Kansas title is made out to me. Then I can sell it to another by going to a Notary with the buyer and sign over the VI Title and Registration to the new owner by having it notarized. Then the new owner must go to the DMV office and submit proof of insurance along with the notarized documents, and then DMV reissues a new Title and Registration in their name. |
