Quick Links
RtI Overview
The Response-to-Intervention (RtI) Model is a schoolwide initiative that provides resources to students in need of academic or behavioral support. RtI provides resources to allow students to make significant progress whether they are at-risk for failure or are gifted and talented, not meeting their full potential. The RtI model utilizes instructional strategies in the classroom to provide universal screening and on-going data analysis. Teachers and principals use RtI to provide instructional interventions and flexible use of the building and building personnal with students. In addition, RtI promotes collaborative problem-solving among staff and parents to enhance all students' performance.
As part of the collaboration process, schools are expected to create a Problem Solving team. (PST) The PST assists the classroom teacher and parents in designing and selecting strategies for improving student academic or behavioral performance, which have a high probablibilty of success. The PST ensures that that academic and behavioral concerns are addressed and that selected strategies are implemented with fidelity. |
