the warhammer quest 40k project

This is the site of a project that changes the old game "warhammer quest" into a "warhammer quest 40k" game.

warhammer quest, but in the 41st millenium

Ever felt that the old “Kill Team” lacked that punch? Too few Xenos when playing “Necromunda”? Warhammer Quest 40,000 is a spinoff of - and a tribute to - the old Games Workshop classic Blast from the Past; Warhammer Quest. The idea is simply to take the old “Dungeon Crawling” game and turn it into an action packed “Complex Crawling” game. The four heroes will take on the roles of Inquisitorial Acolytes who will enter lost human complexes, enemy fortifications and empty battle grounds as strike teams, as the elite confidantes of Inquisitors to remove key personnel or retrieve important artefacts. The original game is often seen as an uphill fight where you build up your warriors, pit them against increasingly ridiculous odds, and finally see them die a heroes death at the hands of the evil they are fighting, or – some times – prevail against all odds. This is a board game Warhammer Quest 40k Modification that so far has been named Warhammer Mission. It is all about using your GW warhammer 40k armies in a different manner. I have been playing the Warhammer Quest game for years, but I have never had a warhammer fantasy battle army, and WHQ does function better with a wider range of WHFB miniatures to choose from. Now, I do have quite a few old WH40k miniatures, and I know many 40k gamers. With the full miniature range we could muster, we had more than enough of every enemy a warrior of the imperium could ever face. So I started to think, why could'nt we use the 40k universe in the Quest ruleset? If we mention all the 40k universe games, such as Necromunda, Space Hulk, even Kill Team, the idea is to have 1 player against 1 player, or teams against each other. The old Space Crusade did have some of the team play that the old WH Quest did, but element this has so far never been translated to the 40k universe. So I decided to :

Create a game in which the players work together to defeat a foe that is much stronger than their combined individual might, but enable them to win through tactics, teamwork and good leadership.

Of course, we needed to make quite a few changes, but it seemed to be quite a fun project to do this. I have made loads of house rules in the past and why not do it again for this? Little did I see at that time that this little set of house rules would grow to the size it did. It grew beyond me as well, as I called people I know to come test the system for me, again and again and again, revision after revision. Now, the game is done. The house rules have more or less been changed into a whole new game. I really do hope you'll enjoy it. All you need is your (or someone elses) WH40k army, some heroes; and a color printer and cardboard for the board sections.

Its free, all of it. Enjoy.
