My first encounter with PPz30 happened when I was still playing with La Muerte , we were playing a gig in the "Halles de Schaerbeek" to support Jacques "Ponpon" de Pierpont's radio program "Rock à Gogo" (29/10/1993: VIVA ROCK A GOGO). There I saw Eric Lemaître, with whom I played in Contingent, playing...trumpet with his left arm in a plaster. He had a severe injury while working with glass and had most of his forearm tendons severed! He was recovering with patience and a busy surgery planning. So, PPz30 was the rythm section of Eric's last band Walpurgis Volta (Phil on drums and Joe on Bass) with an incredible frontman, sweating, shouting, laughing, miming and sometimes singing: Bruce Ellison, and a new guitar player: Jean-Luc Guillot.
In 1994 I got a call from Eric asking me to replace Phil on drums because he injured his leg, and the band had three important gigs to get a deal with a french booking agent. It was great fun to play that "Freaka-Rocka-Funky-Dirty" music, we shared the bill in Tournai with an upcoming avant-garde Rock band: dEUS.
PPz30 got their booking deal wich led them to tour for more than 60 dates in France and I went back to practicing guitar and composition for my project WangWay.
In 1995 PPz30 was recording their second album "Sweet Smell of Suck Sess" and Jean-Luc decided to quit the band, so Eric and Phil met me at a WangWay gig and asked me to rejoin the band as a guitar player. I spent some time with them at the First Floor Studio, to learn the guitar parts with Jean-Luc, and I played percussions (bottles, spoons and ashtrays) on the great tune "Jumpin' Jeosaphat".
