Conventional thinking about the future is linear, limited to tunneled "flashlight" extrapolations of current visions. Horizon Projects see outside of these narrow beams. Horizon Project session participants will visualize new rhythms, manners, rituals, services and products arising from future hypothetical, "impossible" cultural, political, technological or other conditions and then, “look back from the future” to examine present-world challenges through the filter of the invented future-frame.  Horizon Projects Working Group Schedule (tentative) Thursday Morning: -Discuss / formulate the “Future Frame of Reference” (hypothetical, "impossible" cultural, political, technological or other conditions) Thursday Afternoon: -Discuss / select / change as needed, topic(s) from Walled Garden discussion points to view through the Future Frame of Reference -Create rough visualization(s) as to how the chosen Walled Garden topic(s) are altered when seen through the Future Frame of Reference Plenary Session: -Discuss / show visualization(s) for feedback Friday Morning: -Refine concepts / visualizations using feedback gathered in the plenary session Friday Afternoon: “Look back from the future” to speculate how resulting ideas about the fictional future may be applied to current conditions.
