Exploring Portland's Cultural Sites

In this diversified driving tour experience, you will make your way to at least 30 cultural and historic sites in the Portland Metro Area, where you will discover cultural museums, magnificent historic homes, poignant memorials, and a blend of the area's visual and performing arts. Along the way, you will develop dozens of ideas for bringing the study of Portland's culture to your students, both in the classroom and on field trips.
Studying the Bridges of Western Oregon
5 Credits
In this exciting new driving tour, you will make your way to Portland, the Willamette Valley, and along the Oregon Coast to discover more than 50 magnificient bridges. You will learn the history behind each bridge, and you will have the opportunity to travel over many bridges on foot. Along the way, you will examine highway bridges, foot bridges, skybridges, and covered bridges. Most importantly, you will learn how to bring this information to students, through hands-on classroom lessons, and innovative fields trips.
Exploring Portland's Natural Areas
5 Credits
In this course, you will traverse Portland and surrounding suburban areas to discover a variety of forested parks, gorgeous gardens, wetlands sites and geologic sites, where you will learn about trees, plants, birds, ecosystems, and natural formations. Most importantly, you will learn how to bring this information to your students across the curriculum, both in the classroom and on field trips. |
