WAINFLEET FALL FAIR

RULES AND REGULATIONS



1. Exhibitors must be Wainfleet & Port Colborne tax payers and must have a 2011 Exhibitor’s Pass. Exhibitors’ pass for Adults is $5.00, Elementary Students and Pre-Schoolers: $2.00. Elementary Students may show in the Adult classes by paying an additional $3.00 to change student exhibitor pass to Adult. Those entering Grade 9 this September may show in the Secondary Classes with an Elementary exhibitor pass provided the pass is purchased before June 30, 2011.  To be eligible for prize money, an Exhibitor must have a valid Exhibitor Pass with the Wainfleet Agricultural Society. For entry purposes, students enter in Grade Sections according to Grade as of September 2011. 


2. No person shall make more than one entry in any section of any class, except where noted.


3. With the exception of the Horse Pull, Antique Tractor Pull, Horse Show, Exhibitors are limited to Wainfleet/Port Colborne Townships, taxpayers and residents. For the purposes of the Fair, a resident is one who dwells within the Township or on property bordering on all Town line Roads of the Township.


4. Exhibits and entry forms must be brought to the arena Wednesday, September 21st between the hours of 2:00 and 9:00 p.m. only. Entries will not be accepted Thursday morning. All animals must be on the grounds by the time

mentioned in that class.


5. The arena ice area will be closed to exhibitors and the public at 9:00 p.m. Saturday. Exhibitors must return to pick up exhibits as soon as committees can arrange for their distribution. Exhibits must be picked up by 9:00 p.m. Saturday

night in Exhibits’ area. (Articles remaining will be discarded unless previous arrangements are made, from any Class). All prize money will be mailed out by October 31st. Please provide complete, accurate mailing address.


6. Any person misrepresenting age or ownership of an exhibit must forfeit claim to any prize money awarded to him/her. All exhibits must be made or grown by the exhibitor unless specified otherwise.


7. No animal or article shall receive a prize unless deemed worthy by the judge.  Should only one exhibit be entered in a section it will be the decision of the judge as to whether it is worthy of a 1st, 2nd, 3rd or any prize at all. Judges’ decision is final.


8. No article in any of the needlework, craft or hobby classes (Elementary, Secondary or Adult) which is soiled or has been previously exhibited at this fair will be admitted for competition.


9. If articles not complying with this prize list are exhibited, it will be at the owner’s risk and no prize money will be awarded.


10. If there are more exhibits in any section than space to properly display them, the executive committee reserves the right to return the non-winning exhibits and not display them.


11. No person, including directors and committee members, being an exhibitor or spectator, will be allowed in the exhibit building during inspection by the judge or judges, except those appointed in charge of that particular division.


12. Any person who shall, attempt to interfere with, or influence the judges while in the discharge of their duties, or shall at anytime on the premises use any contemptuous or abusive language to any judge in the consequences of any

award made to him/her, shall forfeit his/her right to any prizes which he/she might 12 Wainfleet Fair - SUNFLOWERS “Watch Us Grow” otherwise be entitled and shall be excluded from exhibiting for 1 year thereafter.  Judges are requested to immediately report any breach of this rule.


13. The Directors reserve the right if, because of rain or for any other reason, the receipts for the year are not sufficient to pay the prize list in full, to pay such portion as they have available after paying expenses.


14. All animals shall be subject to a health inspection at time of arrival and sick or debilitated animals shall be removed. If any one or more of the exhibits is found to be suffering from an infectious or contagious disease, the Chairman or

inspector appointed by him/her shall have the authority to bar the entire entry of the exhibitor. Entry fee, if any and prize money shall be forfeited.


15. All exhibitors shall comply with common sense health regulations where applicable.


16. All animals must be properly secured and not allowed to run at large within the fair grounds or they and their handlers will be asked to leave.


17. All exhibits, displays, etc., are at the risk of the exhibitor. The Society will not be responsible for any loss, damage, or accident occurring to any person, animal, or property on the grounds during the fair.


18. If an exhibitor wishes to sell an exhibit, the words “For Sale” and a telephone number may be shown on the exhibitor’s tag.


19. The prize list is subject to correction of typographical errors and/or omissions. In case of disagreement, the ruling of the committee chairperson shall be final.


20. The Directors reserve the right to change any rule or regulation that is deemed advisable or advantageous to the success of the Fair.


21. All protests must be made in writing, stating plainly the cause of complaint or appeal, signed by the complainant, and delivered to the secretary on day of cause of protest. The decision of the Directors will be final.


22. The Treasurer will complete payment of prize money as soon as possible, and cheques will be good for 60 days after the fair. In an event of an error in the cheque, a second will be issued, if complaint is registered within one week of receiving the original.


23. The point system for judging will be used - 1st - 3 points, 2nd - 2 points, 3rd - 1 point and 4th - ½ point. The Winner of the Ray Haggerty Award who is the person with the highest number of points in the fair will have their name on a

plaque. This plaque has been placed in the Wainfleet Township Library and each year the name of the new high points winner will be engraved on it + $50.00 donated by the Wainfleet Agricultural Society. No points for specials.


24. Any information collected by the Wainfleet Agricultural Society regarding, exhibitors, commercial exhibitors, sponsors, directors and any other persons related directly to the business of the Wainfleet Agricultural Society and the Wainfleet Fall Fair, will be solely used for the purposes of promotion for the Wainfleet Agricultural Society and the Wainfleet Fall Fair and for the maintenance of their files and data base. Any exhibitor, commercial exhibitor, sponsor or

director realizes that when they agree to take part in the Wainfleet Agricultural Society and the Wainfleet Fall Fair, that their names may be published for these reasons only. None of this information whatsoever will be sold or transferred to any outside party for any reason.
