General research interests
I am broadly interested in ecology and conservation. I am particularly interested in the scaling of patterns of species diversity in space and time, and all the ecological processes that contribute to variation in this scaling, like predation, productivity, or disturbance. By understanding the contributions of these ecological processes to the scaling of biodiversity, I hope to better understand and address the consequences of human-induced ecosystem change for species diversity at local and regional spatial scales over time. For my dissertation, I am specifically addressing how the extinction or introduction of top predators can alter prey species diversity at local and regional spatial scales (see Dissertation Research), but I have also worked on other questions regarding the scaling of biodiversity (see Other Graduate Research).
