Welcome to Ms. Shedd's Website.

***Under Construction!***
Look around, but be sure to check back later!

Students and parents, don't forget about our class wiki for the 2010-2011 school year. Our discussion questions are posted there and you can see what went on in class today!

This site is designed to help students do their best work and find great resources and books, to give educators useful ideas and resources, and to give parents some insight into what their children are doing and how to help them succeed.

Books
Everyone should read. Books, magazines, comics, cereal boxes, it doesn't matter, everyone should read something.

Everyone - students, parents, and teachers - should check out the suggested reading page. Some of the books listed are designed specifically for young adults, some are not.
  • All of the books can (and should) be read by anyone of any age.
  • Just because a book looks like it's geared toward your child doesn't mean it's not engaging, smart, and meaningful enough for you to read.
  • Just because a book is not labeled as "young adult" literature doesn't mean you students shouldn't read it.
  • Don't be intimidated by "intended audience," go for it. You can always stop and pick up a different book.

Movies, Magazines, Miscellaneous
Just another list of stuff you may enjoy.

Quotations
Others' words can sometimes inspire us and they can remind us to live thoughtfully, they can help us see alternative viewpoints, and they can keep history in front of us so we don't forget what we should never repeat. So here are some great quotes.
