How are propositions approved?

Each proposition will be voted on individually.  Each proposition needs approval from 50% of the people that voted on that item.

What if the propositions are approved?

If a proposition is approved, city taxes will be adjusted to collect the money needed to cover the bond from taxpayers over a specified period of time and work will begin promptly to implement the improvement project.

What is the expected tax increase if all propositions are approved?

The current tax rate is 65.44 cents. Projected tax rate increase over 7 years due to bonds is 7.5 cents.  Bonds will be sold in increments so the increase will occur over several years.  A home valued at $150,000 will see a gradual increase up to $112 per year ($9.33 per month) over a seven year period. Residents 65 and older will not be affected by a tax increase and, as was seen in the 2001 bond, the tax increase has the likely potential to be negated by the increased population sharing the tax impact.
