Mrs. Smith's Lesson Plans for January 4th - 8th HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RELIGION OBJ: Students will finish reading and discussing Chapter 5, Jesus is the Son of God. Students will also be discussing the Virtue of the Week, COMMITMENT, and we will discuss Epiphany. (next week Second grade hosts Mass) READING OBJ: Students will be reading and discussing the story Pumpkin Fiesta. Students will also be engaged in activities that focus on the following:
Inflections: -s, -es, -ies, names of holidays (proper nouns), writing simple, basic paragraphs, identifying fact and fiction information and making inferences.
MATH OBJ: In chapter 4, students will be learning the proper names of American coins, their values and how to count money. This week students will be identifying and counting out pennies, nickels and dimes,quarters and half dollars. Students will also be solving story problems by adding or subtracting.
SCIENCE: Students will review the properties of water and begin a
mini unit on magnets. We will be reading and discussing and experimenting with magnets.
SOCIAL STUDIES OBJ: In social studies, students will identify parts of a map. (compass rose, title, key etc...) Students will be locating places on a Montana map and identifying natural resources in Great Falls, Montana and the U.S. Students will identify different jobs people have in our community,as well as, different businesses in our community COMMUNICATION ARTS OBJ: Students will be involved in activities that will require them to practice using proper reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Students will practice writing complete, simple sentences and begin to write a basic paragraph.
