Junior Squads and training
2009/10
Part of Volleyball England’s
junior development programme is delivered at regional level and consists of a
series of come-and-play and training sessions running roughly monthly throughout
the year and culminating in the entry of regional teams in the Inter-Regional
Championships held at the beginning of May. The regional governing body appoints
coaches and managers and organises the sessions. Age groups
are:
Boys – U15 and
U17
Girls – U14 and
U16
Pre-Christmas training
sessions are open to any juniors who wish to attend, trials and team selection
take place in January and February and final preparation with the selected
squads in March and April. If you would like to send along any youngsters from
your school or club or, better still would like to bring some of your young
players and get involved yourself with the coaching and organisation, the
session dates are set out below. All sessions are at Birchwood Sports Centre,
Warrington (map attached) and are of two hours duration - junior
girls and boys 1 to 3 pm; U16 girls and U17 boys 3 to 5pm. We hope to
integrate these training sessions with regional competitions during the course
of the year.
