Thank Your Lucky Stars
by Jane Herlihy

(Quilted by Kathy Ritter at New Pieces,
Photography by C&T Publishing)

80” x 91”

Jane Herlihy has dabbled in garment-making, weaving and crafts all her life, and even enjoyed a short career as a high school home economics teacher in her home state of Pennsylvania. Although she comes from a family of quilt makers, she didn't enter the quilting world until the 1980's and then became consumed with this  satisfying form of self expression. Her work has progressed from traditional bed quilts to wearable art and contemporary quilted wall hangings  of her own design. She uses many different construction techniques and enjoys both hand and machine quilting.

In addition to participating in guild activities, she meets regularly with two small groups of quilters in the East Bay and gives private quilting instruction from her home. Her quilts have been shown in group and individual exhibits in Oakland, Berkeley and San Francisco.
