「觀點」(Viewpoints)  是美國當代著名前衛導演安‧柏卡(Anne Bogart)以及她和日本導演鈴木忠志在1992年於紐約所成立的Saratoga國際劇團的演員們所發展出的一套訓練技巧,是一套能幫助表演者在排練或演出過程當中充分善用其感官知能的訓練技巧。「觀點」在於訓練表演者在面對其所處的表演空間時,能對其自身與時空的關係具有高度的覺察力。「觀點」並不是一種表演形式,而是一種可適用於各種形式與風格表演的訓練方法。

約翰‧馬隆尼(John Maloney),哥倫比亞大學藝術碩士、專攻導演,是一位擅長發展及改編新作的導演。於哥倫比亞大學唸書時,曾在美國著名前衛戲劇導演Anne Bogart的門下學習導演與觀點訓練。他曾在美國百老匯、外百老匯和地方的劇團執導過戲劇、歌劇、音樂劇以及舞蹈作品,像是芝加哥歌劇團、洛杉磯中央戲劇團、亞馬森劇團、音樂劇坊、伯樂赫思劇團、舊金山演員劇團以及紐約戲劇工作坊劇團。馬隆尼也在百老匯著名音樂劇《拜訪森林》擔任James Lapine Stephen Sondheim的助理導演(該劇曾獲得十項東尼獎提名,並獲得最佳音樂劇獎);並且也在Claudia ShearJames LapineDirty Blonde(該劇曾獲得五項東尼獎提名)以及百老匯工作坊的Dirty Dancing等作品裡擔任助理導演的工作。其近期在紐約的導演作品,包括有在四十二街劇院上演的Who Will Carry the Word,以及 Garden and Volcano ( Horace Mann,劇院演出) 和在Schapiro 劇院演出過的Ritter Dene Voss, The Drunken Sisters King Lear。其導演作品無數,且在其從事導演工作之前,也分別在像是Mel Wong舞蹈劇場和 Um Gee Um劇團擔任過演員,演出過三十多齣作品。此外,他亦擔任過美國著名導演Anne Bogart所寫的A Director Prepares一書的編輯工作,並曾在加州大學Santa Cruz分校任教,主要負責戲劇史和戲劇理論等課程。

 

John Maloney
 
John Maloney specializes in the development and adaptation of new works.  He has directed and assistant-directed theater, opera, musical theater, and dance on Broadway, Off Broadway, and regionally with such companies as the Chicago Opera Theater, Los Angeles Center Theater Group, The Ahmanson Theater, Music Theater Works, The Broadhurst Theater, Actor’s Theatre of San Francisco, BPMAC Denver, and the New York Theater Workshop.  He was the assistant director to James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim on the Broadway revival of Into the Woods (10 Tony nominations, winner Best Revival), the original production of Claudia Shear and James Lapine’s Dirty Blonde (5 Tony nominations), and the Broadway workshop production of Dirty Dancing.  His New York directing credits include: Who Will Carry the Word? at The New 42nd Street, Garden and Volcano at the Horace Mann, Ritter Dene Voss, The Drunken Sisters, and King Lear at the Schapiro.  Original adaptations include: BloodPoetLorca, Spring Love, Song of Ascent, Mosaic Fixations, Tiny Afternoon Roses, A Lover’s Discourse, God’s Shadow, I Don’t Like Parties, and The Astronaut’s Love Affair.  His plays Somebody’s Lying and Ron & Julie were produced at the 1996 Chautauqua Festival in Santa Cruz, CA.  Previous to directing, he worked as an actor in over thirty stage productions, was a featured performer with the Mel Wong Dance Company, and performed improvisational theater for three years with the Um Gee Um troupe.  He served as dramaturg for productions of Dr. Faustus Lights the Lights, The School for Salomes, King Lear, The Tempest, Love’s Labours Lost, and was an editor for Anne Bogart’s book A Director Prepares.  He received his MFA in Directing from Columbia University, and has taught acting, directing, movement, viewpoints, and theatre history at 國立中山大學劇場藝術學系, and the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
