I think that students should design their own experiments (with guidance) and that scheduled experiments are bad. Students copy their write-ups from previous years' books, in the evening - a waste of time and effort with more waste by staff marking them !.
I was given an EU grant to visit classes in Germany,, Holland and Denmark - classes were poor, techniques and safety abysmal hence the pieces on 'safety' and 'sterile technique'...
'The Frogs' was an early attempt to improve drawing by, in this case, zoology students. Many books contain lax ideas and definitions which confuse students - protein synthesis is really about polypeptides. This leads to confusion - students have no idea what polypeptides are. The BMJ and other journals have letters or 'fillers' on a wide range of subjects. My BMJ fillers have evoked many e-mails from readers.- they describe many happy times and events.
