The Department of Livestock Production & Management, Veterinary College Bidar is organizing a Training Programme on "Information Technology in Veterinary Practice" from 9-14 February, 2009 as part of the Continuing Veterinary Education (CVE) Programme sponsored by the Karnataka Veterinary Council for Veterinary Officers of the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Government of Karnataka. Patil Co-Directors : Dr. Santosh Sarangamath : Dr. Shrikant Kulkarni : Dr. M.D. Suranagi Background : Information technology has permeated all spheres of life in the 21st Century, and veterinary practice is no exception. Field veterinarians are already compiling data for sample surveys, livestock census, monthly reports, employee records and financial transactions. The day is not far when every Veterinary Dispensary will have an internet-enabled computer and concepts like hospital management software, management information systems, paperless office, internet-enabled diagnosis, real-time disease monitoring and surveillance, geographical information systems, telemedicine, livestock management software etc. will become part of the day-to-day activities of veterinarians.
