Youtube in the Classroom

Jair and I are also talking about possibly cooperating on a paper to be presented in march 2010 at the TESOL 2010 conference or in the Electronic Village.

The tentative topic is "Youtube in the ESOL Classroom:  Problems and Solutions"

 We could discuss how to download videos onto the professor's computer so that the videos can be shown in classrooms that lack internet connection.   We will describe the use of downloading websites like www.zamzar.com


Types of good channels for Englihs Language learning include  (and we will list our favorite channels so that attendees of the conference can use our list of channels in their classes)


What to look for in a channel


How to find more channels


How to subscribe


How to communicate with the youtube channel owner and various ways of interaction (text, video response, rating, message and becoming a "friend")


How to avoid the probelm of distraction and lack of focus in some video channels on youtube and how not to waste the time of the students int he classroom


how to guide students in the selection of youtube videos to present interesting materials.


How to use youtube videos to convery information in support of a powerpoint presentation, etc.
