Polarization of Light

What is light? It is a range of frequencies of electromagnetic waves that stimulate the retina of the eye. In other words, it is visible waves.

Why do we see? We see because the light waves are reflected off of objects. But why do we see the colors we do? That is because objects that are a certain color don't absorb that color's wavelength; therefore, all other wavelengths are absorbed into the object and only the color of the object's wavelength is reflected into our eye where our brain interprets the color.

Understand why we see the colours we do!

Quick (and important) facts about light:

  • SPEED OF LIGHT: 3.00 * 10^8 m/s
  • light travels in straight lines
  • light is both a wave and a particle
  • without light, we can't see
