The Pokémon Spring Battle Roads are sixth Premier tournaments of the Play! Pokémon tournament cycle and the last premier tournaments before Nationals.  They are located in numerous cities in a state, with emphasis on the local player area.  Players can build their Premier Rating at these events as well, determining who receives invitations to the Pokémon World Championships.  Anyone in good standing with the Play! Pokemon Program is welcome to participate.  However, the Spring Battle Roads is a Tier 1 premier tournament event so a little experience with playing by the rulebook is recommended.

  • Dark Explorers Prereleases Week 1
    Dark Explorers set logo
Three Prerelease events are happening this weekend.  All three of them have different start times, so please read ahead to plan for the events.

The Fairfax prerelease is on Saturday, April 28.  This event requires preregistration, which closes on Friday, April 27 at 9:01 PM.  Flight 1 registration opens at 11:00 AM.  Flight 2 registration opens at 3:15 PM.  This event is run by David Tuskey.

The Theme Deck Challenge will make a return for the Fairfax prerelease.  It will be offered during Fairfax Flight 1 as an alternative to the "main event" format.  In the Theme Deck Challenge (TDC), players may select from available Dark Explorers theme decks and use the unchanged theme deck in a separate tournament. At the end of the event, the players in the TDC receive four more booster packs of the upcoming set (while supplies last).

The Fincastle prerelease is on Saturday, April 28. Registration opens at 1:00 PM.  This event is run by Jeff Reynolds.

The Warrenton prerelease is on Sunday, April 29. Registration opens at 12:00 PM.  This event is run by David Tuskey.

Dark Explorers set symbolPrerelease tournaments are exciting events designed for players to be creative with the newest cards before they are released in stores. These tournaments are casual events which are ideal for new players to learn how tournaments work as well as for experienced players to get a jump start of collecting and practice with the cards. The Main Event at a prerelease has players build a deck out of cards received in 6 booster packs which are then used in a tournament.  Main event participants receive 2 additional booster packs at the conclusion of the event. Prereleases have an entry fee since players receive cards that they keep after the event. All participants receive a Dark Explorers themed deck box and event-stamped promo card (while supplies last).
