Welcome

The mission of the Organization of American Kodály Educators is to enrich the quality of life of the people of the USA through music education by promoting the philosophy of Zoltán Kodály.  The Virginia Organization of Kodály Educators provides support, workshops, and discussion for Virginia residents who support the Kodály philsophy of music education.

Workshop #3
April 13, 2007
1:00-3:30pm.

"Have your cake and eat it, too!"
Teaching musicianship through songs, games and dances.

Caroline Desmond, Presenter

While your students are enthusiastically singing, playing games, and enjoying dancing in the music classroom, the right literature also plants the seeds of musicianship. These tools can later be identifiable and lead to a child's understanding of tonality, form, and rhythm. Students who have ownership of the musical material are excited when they discover it's internal musical aspects! They enjoy themselves and are learning - and we can all have our cake and eat it too!

Free to college students.

Handouts from Caroline’s session in February are available for purchase for $15.00. Anyone interested should contact Keli Rhodes (Keli.Rhodes@fcps.edu).
