Experience

With extensive experience at weddings, funerals and anniversary parties, ranging from California to Scotland, I will provide the high quality piping you seek for your special event. Trained first by my father at 8 years old, I've piped for 32 years and completed my training in Scotland under Andrew Wright of Dunblane (the 1970 double gold medal winner and former president of the Piobaireachd Society). I've competed both as a solo piper and in band competition, usually winning top prizes. With an extensive repertoire and wide experience, you'll be glad you hired me.

I also play the Scottish smallpipes for a quieter sound, or indoor events.

Dress can range from informal, to Scottish country, to formal Highland regalia, depending on your interests. I am willing to learn new tunes, given sufficient notice. (Note: Not all music can be played on the bagpipes because of the instrument's limited range. I'll let you know if a particular piece of music isn't possible.)

I have a very flexible schedule during the week, and my primary area is Virginia Beach--but I will travel to anywhere in the Tidewater region, including the Eastern Shore.



For most weddings*, funerals and other events in Virginia Beach and Norfolk, the rate is $250. For events beyond these ares, the rate is $300. If the event is on short notice (within 2 weeks of the proposed date), regardless of location, the rate is $300.

*Notes regarding weddings: The fee includes 30 minutes before the wedding, music during the wedding (if desired) and up to 30 minutes after the ceremony concludes. If you'd also like to have me play at the reception, there is an additional fee (to be negotiated, depending on your need).
