Lymphoma is a broad term encompassing a variety of cancers of the lymphatic system.  It is type of cancer that develops in the lymphatic system.  Lymphoma cancer is the most common type of blood cancer in the United States.  It is such a common malignancy in humans that there are always new drugs, new protocols and experimental therapy that your regular veterinarian may not be familiar with.

Hodgkins Lymphoma

Hodgkin's lymphoma affects women somewhat less often than men.  Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL), also known as Hodgkin's disease, is a less common form of lymphoma that arises from an abnormal lymphocyte.  About 7,350 new cases of Hodgkin's disease will be diagnosed in the United States this year.  T-cell lymphomas represent less than 15% of non-Hodgkin lymphomas in the United States.  It has also become very useful in helping doctors determine the exact type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma so that they can select the best treatment.
