One kilometer west of Gomlongon Village, Umboi Island, peaceful villagers live near the flight path of a giant long-tailed modern pterosaur. Opai Village has more than just eyewitnesses of the ropen, however: At night, about once a month, it is visited by the glowing ropen as it flies overhead. This was revealed to the American explorers Garth Guessman and David Woetzel, in 2004, while they were interviewing eyewitnesses: Leonard of Opai sees the ropen about once a month, flying over the village.
