Route : Delhi - Chandigarh - Bilaspur - Mandi - Kullu - Manali
Vehicle : GYPSY
It is my second trip to Manali this year . In other words i can say as i am addicted to Himalay a.
It was a real challenge for me because i learned driving 4 wheeler few days back . Finally we were 13 ( 13 is lucky number for me ) in one GYPSY , Innova , Qualis .
We started on Friday midnight ( 11.30 pm) , our immediate destination was Chandigarh . Road was very good but with very heavy traffic. Plan was to spend some time in Chandigarh and then leave to Manali so that we can enjoy beautiful valley during day time.

This place is not open to visitors , here all shops ( which open for very few months during mansoon) were covered with 15 - 20 feet of heavy snow . BRO ( Border Road Organization - a wing of Indian Army ) mantains these roads . Bro is called as Mountain Tamers - they created and mantaining highest motorable passes in in the world. We could reach this point because of Mr.Vineeth whom we met on the way . This terrain will remain closed for next 2 months .....
One of the reason why i selected GYPSY is it 4 Wheel Drive . When we put GYPSY in 4H n 4L gear it can go any where .... It becomes Mountain Goat !!! It is a all terrain vehicle , a trusted vehicle of Indian army .
I spent total 4 days with mechanic who has 15 years of experence , where i learned repairing vehicle in case of breakdown . It is very much necessary because i wil be going to some places which will be disconnected from rest of the world for many days ...
This route connects Leh - Ladakh ( Considered as very sinsitive posts of border ) during summer , but now closed . Here all bridges will be removed when snow fall starts , because any bridge will not survive more than 7 days.( daily 15 -20 feet of snow fall ) . Here i am driving through a river !! .... this is the only option available for me to explore ristricted area.
Himalaya s always Unpredictable , while going to top everything was fine. When we started return journey heavy snow fall started . And thin layer of ice formed on roads , on which driving a vehicle is dengerous .... Every turn, every corner we face chances of death.
