NCCP Certification - NO EXEMPTIONS FOR THE 2012 SEASON !!!

The following is from the NCCP coordinator at Softball BC.  Click the PDF attachement for more info on required levels

To clarify, there are streams in NCCP - Community Stream and Competition Stream.

Community Stream =

- Learn to Coach Initiation Clinic

- On-Going Participation Clinic

There is NO Level 1 in the Community Stream

Competition Stream (2 parts) =

- Intro to Competition Clinic 1

- Intro to Competition Clinic 2

There are NO Level 1 and Level 2 in the Competition Stream

To attend a 2012 Provincial Championships:

House Coaches are required to have successfully completed

1) On-Going Participation (OGP) clinic

2) the on-line Make Ethical Decisions Module (MED)

Rep Coaches (A & B) are required to have successfully completed

1) Intro to Competition Clinic 1

2) Intro to Competition Clinic 2

3) the on-line Make Ethical Decisions Module

Using the examples you've given:

- a  C coach should attend OGP and complete the MED. The Competition Stream would not meet the needs of a House coach: Intro to Competition Clinic 1 does not have the MED module on the agenda so completing the MED would be very challenging. Intro to Competition Clinic 2 has content that would be challenging for a Squirt C coach

- a Bantam B coach should attend Intro to Competition Clinic 1, Intro to Competition Clinic 2, and then complete the MED.

To clarify, only one coach on each team's roster is required to have the above certification for the 2010 Provincials. Since not all House teams make it to Provincials, it would be up to the individual coach to determine if their coaching staff NEEDS certification. However, it is recommended that all coaches obtain some form of professional development for the betterment of the athletes that they coach.

I hope this has answered any questions you have about the 2010 coach certification.
