The club was started by Chris Stulting and Sjaas Reyneke in July 1998. Prior to this Chris and Sjaas would travel the long distances to Pretoria to attend their club meetings. They then decided to start a local West Rand club. Meetings involved the sharing of information as cameras at that stage did not have all the automated features such as focus, back light, sound, white balance, lighting, etc required a lot of manual intervention for quality images and therefore required additional skills.

            The club grew in membership from people with both amateur and professional backgrounds, eager to learn ways of improving their own techniques and productions. Club activities are not just restricted to improving skills on filming and editing but to the videography industry in general. Meetings, therefore include presentations by suppliers on camera makes, types and features, recognised film makers and producers within the industry as well as technical advances and changes to videography (this includes equipment, standards, Television and transmissions).

            The club holds regular meetings on the 3^rd Wednesday of every month at the Discovery Bowling Club, Rooodepoort, South Africa from 6.30 p.m. for 7.00 p.m. to approximately 10.00 p.m. The committee consists of 7 members voted in by the club members.
