Tip of the Week

Consider turning your mobile phone(s) right off (not just to silent or vibrate) during labour and for the first hour postpartum. Shutting out the outside world can really improve your labour progress and allow you to enjoy bonding with your baby.

Welcome!

I am a certified birth doula serving women in Ottawa and surrounding areas. I provide a calm, experienced presence, emotional and physical comfort, and information and resources for expectant parents. Whether you plan to give birth at home or in hospital, I will support you on your journey to parenthood.

As a childbirth educator, I also offer private prenatal courses in the comfort of your own home. These are ideal for couples and individuals for whom taking a class is not convenient or appropriate, and also for those wanting an individualized refresher course for a second or third baby.

About Me

To me, attending a birth is a privilege and a joy. My approach is to respect and support your informed choices; I bring no personal agenda to your birth. I believe you are in charge of your body, your baby and your birth, and you should be treated with warmth and professionalism.

I have been a doula since 2008, when I began as a volunteer Birth Companion with Mothercraft Ottawa. Since then I have been trained and certified by both Mothercraft Ottawa and DONA International. I am also a member of Ottawa Valley Doulas, and subscribe to their standards of practice and code of ethics. I have four wonderful children of my own, two born in hospital, and two born at home, and have ten years of breastfeeding experience.

I have been a childbirth educator since 2010 and am currently working towards certification.
