To my supporters,

I’d like to thank you for your support. As I went through my daily life, I was touched by the many of you who came up to me and offered your support and your vote.  I greatly appreciate it.

My key objective was to cut through the red tape and lawsuits with my experience as a land use lawyer and real estate broker to finally have the middle school built.  On the eve of the election, I found out the best-kept secret among the incumbent school board, no middle school will be built.  Almost all of the $20,000,000 Measure E 2002 bond money earmarked for a new middle school has been spent and there is no money left to build a new middle school.  The $20 million dollars was spent on portable classrooms after the school board decided to close Moss Landing Middle School—and to add 6th grades to the already overcrowded elementary schools—and improvements to existing schools.  Other portables that were stored at a cost of $9,000 a month were finally sent to the ‘temporary’—now permanent—North Monterey County Middle School while the board embroiled themselves in lawsuits over a school site too close to power lines and with overpaid consultants. The non-existent new middle school is a fraud on the taxpayers of the school district that we will be paying for the next 25 years.

The problems with the new middle and the other challenges the district faces that I highlighted in my campaign will continue to need innovative solutions.  I hope my campaigned put the spotlight on some of the these issues and has encouraged many of you to continue to press for reform, change, and progress.  Only through your efforts, diligence, and commitment that we can together build the future our child deserve.
