Our Mission Statement:

"The purpose of L.M. Tate VFW Post 39 is to support and assist active, former, and retired military personnel and their families. We are here to create an atmosphere of camaraderie and fellowship; to honor those who have served our country; while maintaining a positive relationship with our community"

Our charter was established in 1919 and therefore we have the distinction of being the "oldest Post in the South". We are a friendly, diverse group of veterans and we'd like to invite you to stop in and say "hi" sometime. We're working hard to be known not only as the oldest post in the south, but the best too! As such we are actively looking for new members to join our post and help us meet that goal. If you are interested in joining just stop by, call or email us and ask for an application form. We would especially like to encourage Veterans from the U.S.'s recent campaigns like Afghanistan or Iraq to join.

We are located in sunny Saint Petersburg Florida, in a beautiful historic building that has been our "post home" since the fifties. We are currently supporting the troops of the 320th Military Police Company and their families while they are deployed to Iraq. We also offer breakfast from 8:00 to 11:00 almost every Saturday morning, and NASCAR or football is on every Sunday afternoon. We conduct our meetings the first Wednesday of the month, the Ladies Auxiliary meets on the first Thursday of the month and the Men's Auxiliary meet on the Second Tuesday.
