Parc de la Grange is set in 50 acres of well maintained pine and evergreen oak woodland which reach down to the sea. Mainly small bungalows plus two apartment buildings, there is also a hotel with restaurant and bar which are open to non-residents. The hotel also have tennis courts which can be hired.
There are many tracks and pathways through the woods, taking walkers right up to Point du Payre. On the other side of the forest is an aea of 'Marais' a real haven for wildlife. The other side of the Marais is the pretty town of Talmont St Hilaire, with Richard the Lionhearts castle, and a short distance from here is Port du Bourgenay with a popular golf course.
The nearest beach to the studio is sandy and rock pools are revealed at low tide - good for paddling and pottering. Plages des Mines (5mins up the coast) is a popular, large, sandy beach with café in high season. There are beaches and a marina adjacent to the village of Jard sur Mer and moving down the coast there are many other popular beaches such as Le Rocher, Les Conches, La Terriere and, of course, La Tranche sur Mer. The beaches are clean and safe with lifeguards in high Season. Les Conches and La Terriere have beach cafés and surfing schools during the summer.
