Teaching
Hi, my name is Velika Holbrook Majka. This will be my thirteenth year teaching at the Hoover Elementary School. I earned my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education at Salem State College and my Masters in Literacy, Curriculum, and Instruction from Lesley University. I taught kindergarten for three years and third grade for six. A highlight of my teaching career was having the opportunity to have so many of my kindergarten students again in third grade. Now I'm ready to begin my fourth year teaching second grade in the fall. I'm happy to say that I love what I do and the people with whom I work.
Family
I have been married almost as long as I have been teaching. My husband Eric and I have two beautiful children. Our son Justin is seven and his brother Colby turned two in May. We are very lucky because my husband is able to work from home and take care of our kids at the same time. Justin is excited to go to second grade this fall in West Newbury where we live.
We also have a cat, Chloe
...and two dogs, Lucy (puggle) and Coco (Dachshund mix).
Other Interests
In my spare time I enjoy reading all kinds of books on my Kindle. I also love to get together with friends and travel as much as I can. In the summer, we take trips to Maine and Cape Cod. Last year, Mrs. Stamos and I went to Las Vegas together!
