Training

VDF

VDF Regulation 624-1, Personnel Promotions, requires Go/No-Go checks for promotions.  These checks, listed in Appendices A-E of the regulation, are a good way to organize your study.  
 
Several checks refer to U.S. Army field manuals.  Relevant field manuals are available from the General Dennis J. Reimer Training and Doctrine Digital Library.  To access the field manuals, select "Official Departmental Publications" and "Field Manuals," then search for:
    • FM 3-21.13 (or 7-21.13), The Soldier's Guide
    • FM 3-21.5, Drill and Ceremonies

FEMA/CERT

In addition you may find it useful to complete IS-317 Introduction to Community Emergency Response Teams which is required for promotion to CPL (E-4) and above. We also encourage members to participate in local CERT training—please visit their website at http://www.citizencorps.gov/cert/

 

Red Cross

  • Members of the VDF should also be trained in CPR, First Aid, and disaster response skills such as Sheltering. We are working on developing a relationship with the Red Cross at our local and regional levels to help provide some of this training and to serve in times of need. In the mean time, you can:
