The Virginia Defense Force (VDF) is the Commonwealth's military reserve. 

 

The VDF is a state defense force authorized by the United States Code (32 U.S.C. 109) and the Code of Virginia (Section 44).
 
The VDF is governed by the military laws of Virginia and managed by the Virginia Department of Military Affairs.
