Counter Stats | Vasa Summer Camp 2011 Camp Is Full for 2011! This summer, camp will be held from Sunday, July 10th until Saturday, July 16th at Vasa Park, Pigeon Lake. This year’s Camp Directors are Rachelle Hostyn (rachelle_hostyn@hotmail.com, 780-916-5572) and Greg Brodeur (gregbrodeur@gmail.com, 780-619-8988).
Camp registration forms have been sent out and the deadline to register is June 1st. The maximum of campers this year will be 64. If you need information about registration, please contact Rachelle, Greg or Elaine Dougan at dougans@yahoo.com Youth between the ages of 6 and 14 are invited to attend. Join us for a week of fun-filled activities including culture, dance, crafts and recreation. As an added bonus, you get to stay at the lake, enjoy three home cooked meals a day and meet new friends. We are looking forward to a great week this year
Our goal is to have all children learn about their Swedish culture and heritage and to promote brotherhood and understanding. The children also have the opportunity to meet new friends and members. Our program includes:
Arts and Crafts and lots of other outdoor activities.
The children will be staying in cottages donated by our own members and every cottage will have its own den parent. Each camper will be served three meals a day at the Clubhouse plus many nutritious snacks and a canteen. The children are under the supervision of adults and counselors at all times.

ABOUT VASA ORDER OF AMERICA, SKANDIA LODGE #549 The Vasa Order of America is a cultural fraternal organization for people of Swedish or Scandinavian descent with lodges throughout Canada, United States and Sweden. Skandia Lodge #549 is the local lodge in Edmonton, which was organized in 1929. Monthly meetings provide an opportunity to socialize and to learn about Sweden. Several activities are held every year to promote and preserve the Swedish culture and traditions. Vasa Park on Pigeon Lake is the site of a midsummer celebration, a Pea Soup and Pancake Brunch, several summer socials, and a Cultural Heritage Camp for Children. Vasa members can compete for university scholarships, as well as participate in sports competitions with other lodges within the province. Active groups associated with Skandia Lodge #549 include Ladies's Auxiliary, the Past Chairmen's Club, the childrens club and the Vasa Pioneers No. 12, an activity club.
