Nov. 15th- UVA got 13th out of 18 teams at the Atlantic Coast Tournament this weekend! Fantastic job, Gordon, Jessie, Chris, and Madeline! This was a tough tournament, especially since there was barely any wind. Nov. 8th- Awesome job Gordon, Linda, Chris, and Madeline!! They took 3rd place out of 18 teams for Club Champs! Way to rock those tech dinghies. And special congrats to Gordon and Linda for coming in first place for A fleet! Nov. 1st- We qualified at the War! We came in 10th out of 18 teams and we'll be going to the Atlantic Coast Tournament at Cornell! Congratulations to Gordon, Jessie, Chris, and Madeline! Good luck in NY!! Oct. 25th- At the Webb, Dan, Jessie, Linda, and Clay Davis got 2nd place out 8! Dan and Jessie got their first bullet together! We also went to the Navy Small Keelboat Promotional where Madeline, Chris, Andrew, and Katherine Prater took second out of 11! This was an awesome showing by both teams- two seconds in one weekend. Way to go team! Oct. 11th- Chris, Madeline, Nate, and Chelsea Day received 2nd out of 8 teams at Hampton!! For their first time, Nate and Chelsea got a first place! Nice job team Oct 4th- Our team for Georgetown, Chris, Madeline, Tyler Milne, Brad Whitwell, and Nate Wapner placed 8th out of 17. Excellent showing guys! Everyone had a fantastic time. It was fun seeing some of our alumni and the beautiful city. Plus we did a marvelous job at the regatta! Sept 27th- We qualified for the War for the first time in UVA history!! Congratulations to Gordon, Woody, Jamie Eysenbach, and Madeline for their amazing performance at St. Mary's! We were able to edge out ODU by about 5 points for a 7th out of 18 finish overall. We qualified third from the MAISA South. And we took second for club teams, which means we also qualified for Club Champs! Sept 20th - UVA took 3rd out of 8 for the Colony Cup at W&M! Great job Dan Burkert, Jessie Hardin, Andrew Walden, Madeline Gill, and Linda Codega! Sept 13th - UVA team places 5th out of 13 teams at the Riley Cup, with Gordon Wolcott and Woody Granger getting 1st Place in B fleet! Props also to Chris Kennedy and Madeline Gill for a great A fleet showing. Look out MAISA, UVA is making a place for itself on the map!! Congratulations to the CNU Captains team for coming first in our scrimage! The regatta went smoothly. Despite the lack of wind on Saturday, we were still able to have six races on Sunday with three to six knots of wind. We look forward to hosting the event again next year! This weekend is our very first UVA Wahoo Scrimage! So get pumped and try and come out to see it!! It should be a great time.
We had a fantastic first racing practice this past Friday, August 28th . We're really excited for all our new talent! And it turned out to be a beautiful day for our social Saturday Lake Day. It was great to see all the interest in learning how to sail and having everyone enjoy being out on the water.
Come to our interest meeting, Thursday August 27th, at 7:30 pm in Clark 101! Clark is the same building as the Brown Science and Engineering Library. It is the first building on the right, after you cross the McCormick road bridge going towards the chapel.
Get ready for the Activities Fair, Monday August 24th, from 11am - 4pm. Look for the multicolored sail on the South Lawn. August 19 - Navy ROTC Lakeday. Success! We taught the new Navy ROTC 4th Class how to sail, and there was even a little wind for them to practice with. Capsize recovery drills were the highlight, as everyone got to get wet and cool off. Some of us even got to practice our Johnboat-assisted capsize recoveries. The storm rolled in around 3:45, scaring everyone off the water and home. See ya next year ROTC!! Great Season Guys!! April 26- UVA takes first in the Colony Cup! April 19 - UVA Places 14 (out of 18) in the America Trophy Regatta at NYM in NY. Congratulations to Chris Kennedy and Madeline Gill (A Fleet) and Farley Will, Jessie Hardin, and Dan Burkert (B Fleet) for their performance! April 5 - 3rd Place (out of 8) in the South Qualifier. UVA qualifies for the America Trophy (first time in the our recent history)! March 29, 2009 - UVA Places 5th out of 12 in the MAISA/SAISA Intersectional March 22, 2009 - UVA Places 3rd in the CNU 2 v 2 Inviational March 15, 2009 - UVA Places 2nd in the Icefree Invitational at CNU August 20, 2008- Navy ROTC lakeday May 2008 - 2 420s purchased for the club's use May 2008 - The 2 factory new FJs purchased with a grant from the Parents Committee have arrived!
