There are two legal motors available.

The Tower Pro 2409-12T (1600 Kv) outrunner

The Turnigy 28-26 16A 1900 Kv outrunner

Both motors are used by our racers so neither is a clear cut winner.  You might want to pick one based on how it fits on or in your airframe.

These motors are available from http://www.hobbycity.com/ (TowerPro 2409-12T and Turnigy 28-26) but can also be purchased elsewhere.

Any unmodified commercially available speed controller can be used.  Most, if not all, our pilots are using controllers in the 25-30 amp range.  Controllers from Castle Creations (Thunderbird series and Phoenix series) and cheaper Chinese versions from hobbycity (TowerPro, Turnigy and many others) have all been used successfully.

 

Any 3 cell LIPO pack with less than or equal to 1350 mAh capacity and less than or equal to 30C discharge rate can be used.  There are many different battery vendors to choose from but most people are using batteries from http://www.hobbycity.com/ (Rhino or Flightmax in 1000 to 1350 mAh range).
