At the beginning of every December, for many years, UUFHC has had a very popular event called Intergenerational Day. This is an afternoon where children and youth are paired up with an adult to do a Social Action project, make lots of holidays ornaments and wreaths, play games, build gingerbread houses and most importantly, make friends. Every year, one of the ornaments is a Chalice ornament. They make one for their trees at home and one for our tree in the sanctuary. UUFHC has often been asked by other UU churches and families for some of our ideas. Below you will find pictures of just a few of the ornaments we have made over the years.

These two were both carved out of wood by a very talented UUFHC member and painted by the kids. They are some of our most beautiful ones. Various words from the 7 Pricnciples adorn the bottom of each.
  The above chalice ornaments were simple cardstock ornaments that the kids got to design as they wanted. Surprisingly, they have lasted a while.
 This ornament was made out of cardstock, but is rather large. Each flame is about the size of a hand. The kids went crazy with glitter glue on these.

  These two ornaments were cut out of cardboard (using a chalice cookie cutter from Chalice Palace as the stencil). They were then covered in foil and decorated with glitter and jewels.
  These ornaments were made out of two layers of beeswax (bought online in large sheets of varying colors). We used the smaller cookie cutter from Chalice Palace to cut them out and then pressed decorative pieces into the wax. These should not be stored where it gets hot! |
  The above ornaments were made using a salt dough recipe. They were made by volunteers and youth prior to the event and then painted by the kids.
  These ornaments were very easy to make. We used two pieces of black cardstock (again, Chalice Palace cookie cutter, large). They were folded in half and the kids cut holes in them. They then glued tissue paper between the two and got this "stained glass" effect. The fancy hook (Dollar Tree) dresses it up a bit.
