Who can play in the IGO? Any proficient instrumentalist in the UUC community. How often do you rehearse? Twice a month. Click HERE for the rehearsal schedule. Where do you perform? At services at UUC several times a year. Eventually we may hold separate concerts. How do I join? Contact Steve at UUCOrchestra@gmail.com, or just show up at a rehearsal and introduce yourself! There are no auditions. Do I need to be a member of UUC in order to join? No. How difficult is the music? Early intermediate level. You need to be able to read music and play in keys with up to three sharps and three flats. You should be fine if you have taken lessons or played in band/orchestra for 2-3 years. Maybe not immediately, but we want to help you find the resources you need to progress on your instrument and develop enough proficiency to play the IGO music. I haven't played my instrument in x number of years? Can I play with the IGO? Absolutely! Now is the perfect time for you to dust off the case and start playing again. Many of our current members hadn't played in years before joining the IGO. If you seek instruction, we will try to hook you up with another IGO member who plays your instrument or with a local private teacher. Kennelly Keys has an excellent repair shop and sells accessories and method books. I play a "non-traditional" orchestral instrument. Can I play with the IGO? Our group is primarily comprised of traditional concert band/orchestra instrumentation. Musicians who play non-traditional orchestral instruments (recorder, accordion, electric bass, etc.) are welcome to participate if they meet the playing requirements above and can read music.
