What is UTESAC?

UTESAC is your student voice in UNI's Teacher Education program.  If you enjoy collaborating with peers, discussing new ideas for programs, and helping to continually improve the experience of UNI education majors, UTESAC is the place for you!

How Often Do We Meet?

UTESAC members meet twice a month to discuss current issues in teacher education.  In the Spring 2009 semester, we meet from 7:15-8:15 a.m. in the Piazza dining center on campus.  Meeting times and locations will vary depending on the schedules of members each semester.

Sounds great!  How Do I Join?
First, check out the requirements:
  1. Fully admitted to the Teacher Ed. Program at the time the appointment begins
  2. Have and maintain a 2.50 minimum GPA
  3. Able to serve at least 2 semesters prior to student teaching (preferably 3-4 semesters of service)
If you meet those three requirements, you are eligible to apply to UTESAC.

Where do I find the application?
Click the link below to access the application on the Documents page.    You can also go to the Documents page directly by selecting the link in the navigation bar to the left.  On the Documents page, select the "UTESAC Application" link.  It should begin downloading to your computer where you can use a word processing program to type it.  You may also print it out and write in dark blue or black ink.

My application is complete.  What do I do next?
Give your completed application to Barb Hill in The Office of Teacher Education, SEC 159A by March 6, 2009.
Questions? E-mail Barb Hill or call 319-273-2265.  You may also contact any of the current members for more information.

What is the selection process?
The current UTESAC members will meet and review all applications received by the deadline.  The number of new members we are able to accept varies depending on how many open spots we have for the next semester (usually based on how many current members will be leaving to student teach).

Once selected, you are a UTESAC member for as long as you are an undergraduate education major at UNI.  New members will be notified and invited to attend the last UTESAC meeting of the academic semester. Check it out and apply today!
