Support teachers and staff at UT!

The University is calling for huge budget cuts to undergraduate and graduate education, even though the UT budget is stable. These cuts are about to be implemented without any public input and with no accountability to the university community or the people of the State of Texas.

Small class sizes, low student-teacher ratios, access to classes, staff support, and a diverse curriculum are crucial to provide quality higher education. The lecturers, graduate assistants, and staff at UT-Austin are an invaluable asset to the University and the entire student body.

We, the UT-Austin community, call on the President and Board of Regents to maintain quality undergraduate education and stop the layoffs and budget cuts to the teaching missions of UT Colleges.

We invite all students, staff members and faculty who share these views to sign this petition. Please ask your Italian instructor before or after class about signing it, or about receiving a copy that you can circulate for signatures.

Grazie!

Students concerned about the quality of undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin and about the priorities of the University in light of recent developments concerning the institution's budget, should read Professor Tom Palaima's piece in the Daily Texan of Wednesday 30 September.
