Join us as we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Italian Unification – the birth of the Italian nation – with a gathering of all students of Italian, open to the wider UT community.

We are asking each one of the participants to choose a famous Italian, past or contemporary, do some basic research on this person, and then impersonate him or her during our celebration. We will meet one another as our new personae and introduce ourselves and our accomplishments. We want people to be creative and have fun, so bring pictures if you decide to be an artist; put music on your player to share if you picked a musician; load videos on your smart phone that can help you describe who you are and what made you important.

We ask that we start showing our creativity by choosing someone who is not obvious. Wikipedia has a “List of Italians” with hundreds of names divided by category: pick someone in a field you are interested in and learn about someone you hadn’t heard of before.
