Construction Specifications Institute (CSI)
The purpose of Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) is the advancement of construction technology through communication, education, research, and services. This organization serves the interests of architects, engineers, specifiers, contractors, product manufacturers, and others in the construction and allied industries. Students majoring in Architectural Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, and Interior Design will benefit from membership.
CSI sponsors seminars for students on pertinent topics as well as an annual Products Fair in Jackson. A grant is provided each year to take students to Jackson's monthly meeting and the Product Fair. This provides an extremely good opportunity for soon-to-be graduates to meet professionals in a social atmosphere. Dues are $23 per year. These dues include a monthly subscription to The Specifier, an award winning publication covering many aspects of the construction/design industry. Local meetings are held the first and third Tuesday of the month at 12:15 in the Bobby Chain Technology Building, Room 252. State meetings in Jackson are on the first Thursday evening of each month. Usually, the September, October, and November meetings are most appropriate for USM students.
