Oboe and bassoon, Woodwind ensembles, Music history Dr. Rebecca Mindock is the Assistant Professor of Double Reeds at the University of South Alabama. She completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Oboe Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Colorado-Boulder, from which she also has a Master of Music degree. She earned bachelors degrees in Music Composition and English Literature from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Dr. Mindock has served on the faculties of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, the University of Colorado-Boulder, the Parlando School for the Arts, and the Boulder Arts Academy. Dr. Mindock is currently principal oboist of the Gulf Coast Symphony and the Wyoming Symphony, and plays English horn and oboe with the Mobile Symphony. She has previously held chairs with the Victoria Symphony in Texas and the Longmont Symphony in Colorado, and has also performed with the Pensacola Symphony, the Meridian Symphony, the Corpus Christi Ballet Orchestra, the Kingsville Symphony Orchestra, the Boulder Bach Festival, the Denver Philharmonic, the Fort Collins Symphony, the Western Nebraska Chamber Players, Colorado Mahlerfest, and the Colorado Symphony. During the summer, Dr. Mindock serves as the oboe faculty for the junior student program at the Rocky Ridge Music Center outside of Estes Park, Colorado. She has recently appeared as a featured soloist with both the Bay Area String Community Orchestra and the University of South Alabama Wind Ensemble, including a performance at the Alabama Bandmasters Association 2011 All-State Band Festival. She has appeared as a guest artist and clinician at high schools and universities throughout the United States. Her primary teachers include Peter Cooper, James Brody, Sherie Aguirre, and Nancy Brown.
